Young Woman artist P.S. Jaya paints herself black For 100 Days In Kerala.After the suicide of Hyderabad based student 'Rohith Vemula', Kochi based artist Jaya P.S. decided to Covering Herself In Black Paint For 100 Days.
Jaya covers herself in grease to fight caste and color discrimination.This experiment is a means to protest 'Rohith Vemula's' death, and to draw attention to caste prejudices that still exist in our society but are not talked about.
P S Jaya is a dance teacher by profession and is very closely associated with Kalakakshi, The group of artistes and writers who have been actively protesting against the death of 'Rohith Vemula' in particular, and campaigning against many other social issues in Kerala.
"At the end of her 100 days, Jaya plans to conduct a 'Bharatnatyam' recital covered in grease as well. “We use makeup to look fairer in a performance. Maybe we can change that with my performance,” Jaya explained ."
